A padded bed traps heat. In summer, or for a thick-coated dog, that is exactly what they are trying to escape — which is why they abandon a good bed for the kitchen tiles in July.

The solution

A taut mesh sleeping surface on a raised frame. Air moves under and through it, so body heat has somewhere to go. The mesh is waterproof and oil-resistant, so a wet dog or a muddy paw wipes off rather than soaks in — and the whole surface is machine washable.

Questions

Will my dog find it comfortable without padding?
Most do — the mesh has give, so it is closer to a hammock than a hard surface. If your dog likes to burrow into softness, a padded bed suits them better.

Does it need assembly?
Yes, a simple frame assembly. No tools beyond what is in the box.

Can I use it outside?
Yes — the mesh is waterproof and it is raised off wet ground. Bring it in over winter to make the frame last.

Will it hold my 100 lb dog?
Rated to 110 lbs. It will also take two medium dogs, as long as their combined weight is under that.
